First demo of a malicious dashboard widget

I knew it was possible and was only a matter of time before people started creating Bad Widgets for the Dashboard. And now it’s happened.

That article describes and has a link to a site that is demonstrating a potentially malicious widget that automatically launches itself through Safari. If you use Safari like I do, uncheck the option to automatically launch safe files after a successful download. Personally, I’ve never had that enabled because it just seemed like trouble.

So this is another strike against the Dashboard. I’m very close to enabling the debug mode on it so I can disable it completely.
