Broken Bluetooth File Exchange?
I was trying to move some files to my Motorola V551 phone over bluetooth this morning and wasn’t able to connect to the phone through Bluetooth File Exchange (OS X 10.4.2). This used to work but either the recent iSync update or the 10.4.2 update have broken it. I tried repairing with the phone, checked my settings in Bluetooth prefs as I’ve done a billion times before and nothing worked. No love.
I wonder if this is a security “enhancement” for the Motorola phones in preparation for the iTunes phone? Maybe Apple and Motorola have inked a deal to prevent browsing the phones with anything other than iTunes? Maybe it’s just a bug? I like questions?

I have just started having a similar problem. I also have the V551. Using Bluetooth File Exchange, I used to be able to view the contents of the folders on my phone (audio, video, pictures), but this ability is now gone. I can only see the folders. I can still transfer from my Mac to the phone, but I can no longer find the files on the phone to transfer to the Mac.
I am still using OS X.3.9. BT File Exchange version 1.5.4.
The Apple site is not helpful. I wonder if you have solved your problem?
TIA,
Barney

It’s been awhile since I’ve looked at this, but just now, I’m in the process of sending a Johnny Cash MP3 to my phone so it appears to have fixed itself. I initiated the transfer from the Bluetooth Menu>Send file to device…
Make sure to disconnect any other apps that might be connected to your device before doing this. BluePhonElite will prevent you from tranferring files in this way.
Currently using 10.4.3.

It’s been a long time since I’ve used a moto phone so I couldn’t guess at the state of Mac< ->Moto bluetooth transfers. Last I checked, it worked for me.
But, a little googling brought up this link:

Maybe it’ll help.
Good luck!
