I’m back, baby!
It’s been a little while without a post so I thought I’d drop a few lines out there for the fans. I’ve had a busy week. Last weekend, I flew home to the great land of New Brunswick to pick up my new car (pictures pending). Without going into too much detail, the flight home sucked due to some dangerous conditions and overbooked airplanes and missed connector flights. It was bloody freezing all weekend which prevented me from doing some of the things I wanted to do, like drive my car and check out some of the pubs. The drive home was a blast though, despite some rough weather in most of Québec.
Here are a couple of links that amused me. The first is a post from a former Apple exec who is calling for a boycott against the upcoming HD video standards which, according to him, are cuffing users and limiting their playback options.
And, my new favorite anti-DRM article from Ars Technica. This feel-good story tells how David Birch stood up and called the entire tech industry a bunch of girly-men for caving to Hollywood’s retarded requirements. Good for you, David! I would like to buy you a beer and shake your hand.
DRM and the tech industry’s “girlie men”
It is looking increasingly inevitable that the future will contain a whole bunch of electronics passing around digital keys and certificates before you can listen to music or watch a video. In this world, if your speakers, headphones or televisions detect an unauthorized stream, they will notify the authorities who will promptly arrive at your house and escort you to the nearest processing facility. It’s gonna be awesome.
Now is the time to horde your electronics.
