n3wblog tech commentary and observations from the future

I was thinking of writing some video game reviews today. I could tell you all about “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon 3: Advanced Warfighter” (Ubisoft) or even “Fight Night Round 3″ (Electronic Arts) and how much fun I’ve been having with those titles despite their respective — often glaring — weaknesses and limitations…

I could also talk at great length about the movie V for Vendetta and how thought-provoking and well-adapted from the graphic novel of the same name it was. (“V For Vendetta” (Alan Moore, David Lloyd)) How I saw it not once, but twice this past weekend and how I drove all the way to Toronto to see it with my good friend prod, then saw it again when I got home with dria whom I practically had to drag into the theatre because she was being so ambivalent, then drag her out of the theatre when it was over because she was so overcome with emotion that she couldn’t bear to leave.

Or, I could talk all about the drive to and fro’ Toronto in my super cool car and about the adventures prod and I had driving around his part of town. I could go on about how I solved the Asian Bird Flu crisis with the powers of my mind. Or about how my cat had opened an inter-dimensional portal to an alien universe allowing my evil, goateed counter-part to infiltrate our world and cause all kinds of monkeyshines that were attributed to me before being apprehended and sent back to his universe screaming down a cataclysmic, climactic, causality cyclone… but frankly, I just don’t have the strength.

You see, it’s springtime and my interests in such mundane matters are limited at-best. I would much rather go for a nice walk outside in the slightly below-zero temperatures breathing in the not-so-fresh air near the not-very-clean-at-all Ottawa River. I think that is what I shall do instead.

wow no reviews and shameless links to amazon OMG learn2stopemo

Posted by JI on 23 March 2006 @ 1am

the links are so my friends can easily click on these things I’m not reviewing and purchase them if they choose. If I ever did make any money off of my links (I haven’t yet), I’d put it towards the cost of the site and maybe buy a movie if I had any left over. Is it really so wrong? Get off your high horse!

FWIW, I link everything. :o ) Why not? If I’d talk about it anyway, it only makes sense to link it through.. it’s not as though I talk about things simply to get click-throughs!

I kwym about the weather–I’ve done the walk to the other end of Westboro and back with the kids twice this week. The weather’s great and the stroller seats two (of them, not me)–since they usually fall asleep, it’s a nice chance to enjoy some relative quiet.

Thank you, liss76! It’s not like I’ve plastered garish, horrible banner-ads all over my page and added ad-sense and flash adverts. I think the click-throughs to amazon provide a means for people to buy something I might have talked about — it’s a convenience. And if I get a gift-certificate for a few bucks as a result then so-much-the better. JI’s just a troll.

The weather’s getting nicer. I can’t wait for this cold, messy weather to be done for good.

Maybe you should consider a stroller for your own self. Why walk when you can be pushed? The boys must be almost big enough to push you around by now? :)

I need one of those motorized carts. I could rig it all up with a canopy and fuzzy dice.
