iPhoto -> Gallery2 + Wordpress = Smooth Chewing Satisfaction

Awhile back I dreamed of a better world where I could magically push a button in iPhoto and publish pictures to this blog. In this magical world, the picture pages would have the same look and feel as the rest of the site and be manageable with an online database.

Well, my friends, that day has come. Not in the form of a hand-rolled set of plugins that couldn’t possibly ever work either. This is actual stuff made by real people!

Rob @ Electrolund has the real scoop on the process. I’m going to try to set this up this weekend if time permits. Nice work, Rob!

I didn’t realise Gallery2 was out yet. I”ve been using Gallery1 for years and recall answering a poll maybe 2 years ago from the author when he was cooking up Gallery2. I’ll have to check to see if the Geeklog version of it is available yet. Gallery1 is an extremely good program and I’m anxious to check out the DB-driven version of it.

One of these days I’ll get off my arse and finish my own photo plugin for Geeklog. It’s pretty full-featured as it is, but does not support multiple albums which is a pretty huge deficiency. Though with my “User Pages” plugin you can simulate albums.

Nice. I’m anxious to see what you do with your gallery.

btw, I love the term “permanoob”. LOL!

still in the process of setting it up while getting interrupted from all directions. I’m getting there, slowly, in my noobish fashion.

the moniker “permanoob” might seem funny now, but you try living with it for *koff* many years.

also, I noobed-up my initial response on your webpage, leaving both a post and then a trackback. I blame my permanent noobishness. Feel free to delete one if you dislike the clutter.

This reply has 4 occurrences of the word “noob”. Make that 5.
