Pad Thai Disaster
Today, while trying to reheat some left-over pad thai (with some left-over bacon on it for good measure because, well, bacon tastes good), I had a bit of a problem. I had what I termed, “a catastrophic lid failure” on my Dave’s Insanity Chili peppers. These are not your ordinary hot chilies, they’re REALLY hot. Like, nuclear hot.
But, as you can see from the picture, there were little pockets of pad thai still untouched by the chilies. Or so I thought! You see, noodles have a way of running throughout the whole dish. In the case of pad thai with the long, flat rice noodles, they can make their way through several sections of the plate and are not easily separated. I had some bacon without too much difficulty, then tried some noodles and chicken. Big mistake. Or… was it? It was hot, but not too painful, so I went back in for more.
That’s when disaster struck. I started eating it and, hey, it was pretty tasty, so I went in. After about 4 or 5 mouthfuls my eyes started watering and my lips were burning like I’d been pepper-sprayed. Another taste verified my suspicions: It was too hot to eat. One more savory blast and I violently pushed the plate away and ran to the fridge for a big glass of milk. Oh the deliciousness!
This pad thai went to 20 stars.
I just wished I could have saved the bacon. *snif*
