it did it again
I thought I’d take a moment out of my busy day to whine and moan about the three red lights on my Xbox360. This is not the first time I’ve been disappointed by this hardware. To make matters worse, this is about 14 months after the first one’s replacement arrived putting it just outside of the extended warranty offered by Microsoft.
If you had any doubts that this wasn’t a well-designed piece of hardware, let’s do some math:
me: 2 x xbox360s -> 2 dead
friend a: 1 x xbox360 -> 1 dead
friend b: 2 x xbox360 -> 1 dead
friend c: 2 x xbox360 -> 1 dead
friend d: 1 x xbox360 -> 0 dead (?)
friend e: 2 x xbox360 -> 1 dead
…
Out of 10 xbox360s between me and some friends, 6 are now dead. Friend “d” whose xbox360 arrived last year right after xmas is screwed. It’s only a matter of time before his xbox360 dies too. I hope he’s taken out some insurance. I’m not saying this to scare him. I’m not trying to be cruel. He doesn’t even read this because he thinks reading blogs is “gay”, so I can pretty much say whatever I want about him. He’s not even really that close a friend, hence his enumeration way down at letter “d”. He didn’t even bother to write a supportive note about my xbox eating its own genitals when I wrote about it on our forums. Some friend… (his name’s Prod)
So, say what you will about Sony taking their sweet time releasing the PS3, I have little doubt they’re far more reliable than these crappy pieces of electronics. Way to go, Microsoft. You’ve screwed me again.
PS, aside to the person who smeared a muffin on my car’s mirror and door this morning and left the remains sitting on my mirror for me to discover: You are a dick.

Wow, I don’t even qualify as friend “z” I suppose. I have an Xbox 360, and it hasn’t died yet. Though that’s probably because I don’t play it. I’m afraid to play it because it might die.
Your former friend?

JI, did you get an Xbox360? Did it die?
Doc, you certainly qualify as a dear friend for being a faithful reader. Surely you qualify as friend c.5.
Thank you for your continued patronage.

For one thing, I gave you plenty of support while in voice comms with you at the time the tragedy occurred, so replying to your thread would be redundant, wouldn’t it? Also, wtf is up with this “friend d” bs? I should totally be “friend a”! In case you forget, I lived across the street from you when you were 5 goddamn years old!
Indignantly,
prod
PS blogs are gay.

What am I, friend b? I’ve had 2 and only one has died. I just got my replacement, so once the rental unit from Target goes back, and I hook up my repaired one, I’ll have had 3 with only 1 failure.

I dunno, b, c, or e, I guess. I’ve forgotten. In any case, I don’t really consider early-returned Xboxes in this data as it is less than then 30 day minimum failure condition. I’m striving for statistical accuracy here and your pick-up and return-the-next-day console is a numerical aberration.

Can I be friend J? Damn it JI! I’m wearing a hole in my leather couch playing my XBox. I need to find a good bottle of Polish Brandy to cuddle with.

I guess so. I’m not really sure you want to become a statistic in my list of sad friends though. They tend to have “problems”. With their “stuff”.
The polish brandy will help though.
