Cannon Fodder

Back in the ’90s, there were two games for me that represented everything a video game should be. They should be cute and utterly, unapologetically violent with a degree of frustrating difficulty. The first of these games was the now legendary “Lemmings”. Debuted on the Amiga in 1991 (ref. wikipedia), it was some time before the game saw a port to any of the other platforms. The second was Cannon Fodder.

Stop whatever you’re doing and download this Sega emulation right now! It’s not that important.

the only drawback to this port is that it’s missing the awesome song that featured the words, come to your brother, kill him with your gun, leave him lying in his uniform, dying in the sun… WAR! Never been so much fun…

Thanks to rh from #smalltalk for providing the mod.

Lemmings was awesome! If only there were a free version of it online somewhere …

yeah, I played a *lot* of Lemmings. I had friends who’d come over to my craptastic room at school and play it for hours. I don’t think we ever finished it but certainly logged thousands of Lemmings (and countless deaths).

A quick search shows a bunch of online lemmings games. No idea if any of them are any good or not but that might be a great way to kill a few hours. :)
