where’s the stuff?
Y’know? The goods. Products. I went looking for some music the other day and came away empty-handed. Best Buy and the Future Shop keep terrible music on the shelves. Oh sure, there’s some good stuff, but where’s the Electrelane? And the Clientele? October Guard and the I love you but I’ve chosen darkness?
It is a sad pile of Snow Patrol (didn’t buy) and Muse (purchased). And they’re OK… They’re just not the Dears or even Metric. There was no Gary Numan. No Wire. No Clinic. Only Christina Aguilera and a bunch of music I’ve never heard of. Probably Sting.
On the other hand, I did pick up the new Interpol today, Our Love to Admire. I didn’t buy it in a store. I bought it online! Through iTunes! It’s unencrypted and encoded at a nice bitrate and even comes with a PDF of the liner notes. I am totally satisfied with my purchase. So far the album’s not bad either. A gradual evolution of their sound, but all very familiar to fans.
I won’t make the mistake of trying to buy music in the Best Buy again.
(Muse’s Blackholes and Revelations is actually very good, I quite recommend it)

So that Interpol can play on any device then?

Pretty much. Most devices and players can handle AAC (or M4A) files these days.
