Thanks for stopping by. Yeah, VR never really panned out. What we ended up with is Second Life and World of Warcraft (and EQ, etc). Not to say that fully immersive VR a la The Cave won't come at some point in the future, but it'll be awhile, I think. What does it mean for us, indeed? It's a little hard to tell when you're inside it. I suspect it'll take some years for us to be able to look back and see where all the trends ended up. I just talked about personal storage but looking forward, it makes a lot of things possible. We already live in a cyberpunk dystopia. With the exception of full immersion VR, which Gibson kills off in Spook Country amusingly enough, everything in those stories already exists.
