graydon: So I've heard. The stories have been well-told and discussed on national news programs. I just assumed that having a friend recommend a moving company and refer me to the owner directly would carry some measure of protection. I thought wrong.

I hate to say it, but this is one area where a little government analysis might be a good idea. Still waiting on that computer though. They may get the last laugh yet.</description>

		<description>As far as I know, distance movers do this every time.

The ones who moved us out here held our stuff hostage too, and charged us 2.5x the initial quote, claiming that it was merely a guess.

Others have related the same story so many times now that I assume it is simply the standard business model.</description>
